We provide time off for employees who have lost a loved one.
Employees working a regular schedule of 22-1/2 hours or more per week are eligible for Bereavement Leave benefits. A death in the immediate family may involve time away from work. To help at such times, the Firm will excuse an employee from work and continue the pay for the regularly scheduled straight time hours lost to a maximum of five (5) consecutive regularly scheduled working days for full-time employees, and three (3) consecutive regularly scheduled work days for part-time employees.
For purposes of this policy, those in the immediate family are spouses, children, parents, siblings, parents-in-law, siblings-in-law, stepparents, stepchildren, stepsiblings, grandchildren, and grandparents. When a death occurs in the family, but does not involve immediate family as defined above, an employee will be excused from work for one to three days to attend the funeral depending on travel needs. This includes grandmothers-in-law, grandfathers-in-law, uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and great grandparents.
